What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
Understanding how it all started put things into perspective for me as a teacher teaching our 21st century learners. To hear that a group of teachers decided to stand up and make a change to improve not only student achievement but shift the mindset of their community as a whole is fascinating and motivating for me as an educator. We just cant keep doing the same old things as educators we move with the times therefore transform the way we think and learn in school.
The facilitator mentioned that its not about being the star teacher but more so a teacher that is willing to collaborate with other teachers to implement change to how education is delivered in schools today.
They also shared about the learn, create and share process they use to capture the rich learning that happen is their cluster of schools. I can definitely see the importance of these there terms where students are engaging in rich learning, creating their end products that shows the journey of their learning therefore having something tangible to share with their learning communities its something we are currently doing as a school where we showcase the students learning capturing every special moment we can in the classroom. Overall a great insight in to the origins of Manaiakalani and how it has changed views and perspective about learning today.

Organising my google drive
Archive folders that we hardly ever use
Also learnt some new tricks that will save me time.
What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
Creating posters are a great way to engage students in learning. Where work can be created to help promote student agency where students have choice to pick what ever subject area they would like to improve on or solely do because they have an interest.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
Using blogger as a reflective journal not just for professional reasons but also using this platform as a personal reflective journey where we can post our victories and triumphs.
That whole process of learn, create and share pedagogy that promotes a growth mindset where everyone is learning collaboratively.
Kia Ora Terry, thank you for taking the time to put this reflection together! It's great to see that you gained a lot out of this first session. I think it's awesome that you were able to create a poster which you know will help your teaching and the experience of your learners. Well done!
